
Matt Koch is vice president for Oil Sands and Arctic Issues at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy. Koch is responsible for leading the Institute’s efforts to promote and expand support for the development of Canadian oil sands and access to Arctic resources.
Matt Koch is vice president for Oil Sands and Arctic Issues at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy. Koch is responsible for leading the Institute’s efforts to promote and expand support for the development of Canadian oil sands and access to Arctic resources.
Before joining the Chamber, Koch was director of Federal Relations at the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he was API’s chief advocate and issue manager for all downstream and refining-related issues affecting the oil and natural gas industry. Koch was responsible for initiating and managing API’s ongoing, multifaceted oil sands strategy and campaign. Koch also directed API’s renewable fuels and environmental issue advocacy on Capitol Hill and with the administration, including during the 2005 and 2007 Energy Bill debates.
Koch served in the George W. Bush administration in the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs and at the U.S. Department of Energy. He also worked for two members of the U.S. House of Representatives, in the New York State Assembly, and for the Texas Office of State–Federal Relations in Washington, D.C. In addition, Koch has extensive political experience in local, state, and federal campaigns and with national conventions.
Koch resides in Falls Church, Virginia, with his wife and two sons. He enjoys coaching and still playing ice hockey. Koch is a graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations.
